Getting your prescription to arrive on your phone.

Greece lets you receive prescriptions digitally instead of on paper. It takes about five minutes to switch on, you only do it once, and it makes every prescription you are ever given easier — not just ours.

First, which one are you?

Three situations, all of them workable.

You do not need paperless activated to be prescribed for. It simply changes how the prescription reaches you.

Best case

You have an ΑΜΚΑ and paperless is on

Your prescription arrives as a code on your phone within moments of being issued. Show it at the pharmacy with your ID. Nothing to print, nothing to lose.

Works fine

You have an ΑΜΚΑ, paperless is off

The prescription is emailed to you as a document. Print it or show it on your screen. It works exactly the same at the counter — it is just less convenient.

Visitors too

You have no ΑΜΚΑ at all

Tourists, and Greek residents who never got one, can still be prescribed for. The prescription is issued against your passport and sent to your email.

Switching paperless on

Four steps, on a government site.

We are describing someone else's service here, so treat this as a map rather than the territory — if the portal has changed, follow the portal.

Go to the national portal
Open ehealth.gov.gr and find the paperless prescription service (άυλη συνταγογράφηση). It is a government site, not ours — we never see your credentials.

Sign in with TaxisNet
The same username and password you use for tax and public services. If you have never had TaxisNet codes, you will need to get those first through AADE.

Enter your ΑΜΚΑ, mobile and email
The portal asks for the phone number and email address where you want prescriptions to arrive. Use ones you actually check.

Confirm the code it texts you
A one-time code arrives by SMS. Enter it, and paperless is live from that moment onward — for every prescription you are given, not only ours.

We never ask for your TaxisNet details. Activation happens entirely on the government's own site. Anyone asking for those codes on our behalf is not us — please tell us if that ever happens.

At the pharmacy

What actually happens at the counter.

Give the pharmacist your prescription code — or the printout — along with your ΑΜΚΑ or passport and a photo ID. They look it up in the national system, dispense what the doctor prescribed, and mark it as collected.

Not every pharmacy stocks it

Medical cannabis is not something every pharmacy keeps on the shelf. It is worth a phone call before you travel across town.
